Bristol Cathedral School
Contractor
Skanska
Scope of Work.
A new extension to an existing school, built with a confined city centre, urban space.
Scaffolding Supplied.
External access Scaffolding, Stair and Loading Towers, Birdcages and Edge Protection.
Part of the scaffolding needed to be built over an adjacent roof, the roof was incapable of managing the proposed loads imposed by the scaffolding. It was also not possible to tie the scaffolding to the new building.
The scaffolding was constructed totally free standing. Built off bridges spanning from and restrained by the floor slab and load bearing walls off the new building and the load bearing wall of an adjacent property.
Another interesting feature was the requirement for the construction of a heavy duty multi-level loading tower to enable the distribution of heavy plant into the new building.
